It's a beginning of a new age...
Twenty-eight. Female. Scorpio. Liberal Democrat. Recovering Catholic (i.e., recovering *from* Catholicism, not "returning home" or any of that nonsense). Pro-choice. Passionate veg*n who HATES salad. Former adjunct professor at several community colleges turned blissful SAHM. :-) Happily married to an incredible firefighter/paramedic. Mother of an amazing baby boy and a beautiful baby girl. *JOURNAL STATUS: currently "friends only" and staying that way. I'm generally not adding at this time, but there are always exceptions to every rule if you seriously rock. At one time...
I had a seemingly confrontational and defensive statement about my child-rearing choices and philosophies. After being told by several of my pals here that it was, well, a bit abrasive, I axed it. But the truth remains: I am still me, with the same passionate beliefs.
If you are someone who believes there's only ONE right way to do raise and nurture a child, and it's YOUR way...please don't add me to your f-list. I mother by heart as I do all things by heart--this is the way I live my life in all respects. You and I--we are allowed to do things differently. There is strength in difference, but only if you're mature enough to see it. You support cloth diapering? Natural childbirth? You're a working mother? I support *you*. Those aren't my choices, but I'm not raising your child. I will never claim you're wrong due to the choices you make based on your intuition as a mother. Difference in opinion should not make either of us "unfit" or "bad" mothers. However, please be ::ahem:: enough of an adult to disagree while understanding the sisterhood of motherhood should be stronger than a difference of opinion.
I usually don't find this to be an issue, but it's pretty apparent that some people should stick to raising their cats and leave child rearing for people who are mature enough to accept difference in others. I'd feel terrible if I was so petty. How I could I be the one to teach my children values with such feeble moral character? Basically, here's the skinny: if you're a drama llama, take it elsewhere, foo'.

Listen, I'm a kitten with claws but they only come out when it's absolutely necessary. Oh! Don't be an asshole, and don't fuck with my family, first off, or my friends. If you do, I'll open a can of whup ass on you in a hot minute. Believe. I'm fiercely protective of those I love. Oh, and if you ever tell me that a "c-section isn't really giving birth, it's just surgery," I reserve the right to bitch slap you into next week. Seriously. <3
